Maple Syrup for Your Honey

It's almost Maple Syrup Season! Nothing beats a romantic morning with your honey than pure maple syrup over a batch of hot French toast or pancakes.

According to Michigan Farmers' Market Association, there are different grades of Michigan farmers market fresh maple syrup. While they are all delicious, different grades are best for different purposes.

Grade A maple syrup is lighter and more delicately flavored, making it perfect for topping your pancakes or other treats.

Grade B Michigan Maple Syrup

Grade B maple syrup is stronger in caramel flavor and great for baking. This is a darker syrup with a more robust flavor and scent.

  • Pure maple syrup in glass or tin containers may be stored in the refrigerator for up to one year.

Romance in the Air - Breakfast with the Turkeys

Hubby and I enjoyed breakfast on the deck this morning. He was in Seattle and I was home in Michigan. Thank God for video chats! While we enjoyed our romantic moments, Tom and Penny joined us.

The young, dashing tom turkey and his lovely hen meandered out of the woods to find goodies left for them at the feeding stations. A larger flock hangs out a few housed down the street but we are happy with our small family.

Tom knows he's a handsome devil.

Tom is one of three bachelor birds we've watched grow and mature over the years. He's young and this is probably his first family.

Perfect Penny

Penny visits the feeders several times a day; often is on her way in as I step away from filling the stations. She has a sister, Henny, who is part of the family but is rather camera shy and a bit skittish.

Watching drama of nature unfolding can be relaxing and sometimes better than TV. When he's home, hubby & I use the peace of the morning to sit on the deck. It's romantic and recharging as we share gentle touches and conversation.

Take a morning to sip a cup of coffee or tea, with your honey or alone, on a porch, deck or patio. Reconnect with yourself, your honey and nature. It's good for the heart and soul.
