#FirstPageFriday: Eagle Dance

Featuring the first page of a book on Friday is a great way to kickstart a weekend.

Blurb:
Dyami Schafer, a Native American from the Chippewa tribe in Michigan leads a lonely life due to his large size and unusual appearance. When his nesting instinct sets in, he turns to Madame Eve and 1 Night Stand to help him find his spirit mate or at least a woman who enjoys dancing and accepts him as an eagle shifter.

Amanda Collins never recovered from unrequited love and memories of a Chippewa boy. She believes a simple night with a Native American man will make her forget the past so she can move on with her life.

Madame Eve partners them for a 1 Night Stand in the magical Rose Cabin at the Poconos Mountain Resort. During a blizzard they learn one must step into the past before dancing into the future. Will the Spirit of the Eagle carry them?

Here is the first page:
Chapter One

Frilly snowflakes fell, decorating the sleeve of his Carhartt jacket. A pair of the crystals landed on the hard material, molded together to form a larger, even more beautiful design.
No two flakes are the same, yet they manage to find a mate. Is my design too different, that I’ll never find my match? Dyami sighed, his breath releasing in a puff of white and releasing the negative vibes teasing the edge of his mind. He straightened and stretched stiff back muscles. Everything in nature happens for a reason.
Over a few beers several months earlier, he’d celebrated his own pity party with a friend. He’d vented his frustration of women staring at him with fear or disgust and had reached his limit of tolerating loneliness. His large size and dark, Native American features often intimidated strangers. Women of his tribe whispered of his peculiar eyes and often walked away, repulsed.
Unfortunately, his nesting instinct had also recently kicked in. He wanted a good woman who would accept and love him for the rest of his life. His drinking buddy had mentioned an elite dating service, 1Night Stand, that set up blind dates that often led to a love match. Dyami’s spirit nurtured the seed of hope at the recommendation and persuaded him to fill out the paperwork for a date.
Then, a week earlier, he’d stood on his porch, drinking his morning coffee, when a hawk flew overhead. His people considered hawks to be messengers, and he’d wondered about the significance of the creature’s visit. With an impatient heart, he went inside, checked his email, and discovered a message from Madame Evangeline, the owner of 1Night Stand.
Following a day of work, he’d driven almost seven hundred miles in poor weather to meet his date. He’d planned to arrive at his destination with vim and vigor, not exhausted. Eventually, he’d given in to his fatigue and spent the night in a cheap hotel along Interstate 80.
Now, standing and waiting for his date, he watched a plow rumble on the road and the world grow white and admired the serene landscape. Giant evergreen boughs were laden with heavy snow, much like the mental weight he carried. The trunks stood strong, bearing the spirits of the earth. Crisp air filled his lungs. Around his neck hung a pendant with a small eagle mounted on an arrowhead representing his lineage. Clasping it, he closed his eyes. The rough edges dug into his palm, yet gave him comfort. Some of the legends of his culture were true; such as those telling of people born with a totem animal or a spirit guide. His ancestors had been blessed by the Great Spirit. In every generation, one man be born not only with a spirit animal residing within his soul, but also the gift of shifting from man to that of his spirit animal.

#Thursday13 - Quotes from Crow Magic

I've taken todays list from my book Crow Magic.

1.“Well, well. What do we have here? Why, it’s the poster boy for the rich and flashy cowboys. Where’s your hat?” he teased. “Don’t you think you’re too…shiny?”

2.“I don’t wear a hat and I happen to prefer shiny, thank you very much. I merely planned on a comfortable night of gambling here in Las Vegas.”

3.“The Crow is a carrier of souls from darkness into light and defeats fear in the shadows. He is a keeper of spiritual law.” Her breath caught in her throat and she lifted her eyes to meet his black, glassy stare. “I wish I could keep you with me always and you could shield me from my own fears lurking in the shadows of my mind.”

4. “You have been a mouse too long.” He whispered to the wind, “It is time to let the fiery angel fly. Trust me. Believe in me. I will show you how to soar.”

5.“Your skin is the blush of the palest flower.” He inhaled. “Hmm…I smell honeysuckle. You have the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen. It is so vibrant with fierce, turbulent colors. Inside you is an inferno of sexuality yearning to be released. My angel, come with me into the darkness so I may help you find light.”

6. “Walk gently through the wood, and you will know its splendor. They are the skin, the tissue, the life of the world.” Tecumseh tucked her hand into the crook of his arm. “Find the beauty in all things, even the darkness; for without darkness we wouldn’t know light.”

7.“That’s it, my fiery angel.” His breath caressed her neck. “Wake up and take what you want. Empowerment of a woman begins deep within her. Feed your power. Use me to grow stronger.”

8. “Part of getting over a fear is becoming familiar with what you are afraid of.”

9. “I am a man who is yours tonight, Lucy.” He walked toward her with arms out from his sides, exposing his nudity. “Draw on the power within you. Look at me. Overcome your apprehension of men. Have I not shown you gentleness?"

10. “Lay down.” Her voice firm with the command, she stepped back and pointed to the blanket.

11. “By the spirits, woman, be careful what you do.”

12. “Hmm….” The sexy feminine purr about killed him. “Spirit of the Crow, I want to fly. Can you help me fly?”

13. “Relax and lean into me.” His rhythmic voice lulled her into complete trust. “Close your eyes. It is time to not see but to feel.

#FirstChapter Teaser - Handcuffs and Silk

Blurb:
Stephanie "Stiff" Johnson, is a tough Las Vegas cop who many men find too intimidating to date. Steph begins to wonder if something is wrong with her so she turns to Madame Eve to find a man who could be the yin to her yang, even if it's just for one night.

Hunter Mason left behind years of living as a sub to a female Domme in New York. Upon return to his hometown, he questions whether he wants to continue with the "lifestyle" or find something different. Turning to 1 Night Stand, he hopes to sample his options.

A simple one-night stand opens a whole new sensuous world to both.

Chapter One
The blades of the chopper sliced through the heat of the night as it flew over the City of Lights. Casinos glowed in various hues of blue, plum, gold, green, and silver, casting a magical aura. Spotlights danced in the night, graceful fingers tickling the sinister side of Vegas. Unsuspecting people moved about, flitting from place to place, searching for excitement and fulfillment while cars in traffic jams occasionally brought the pulsing arteries in the heart of the city to a temporary halt.

Being a Las Vegas cop, Steph recognized the evil lurking in the shadows of the beautiful city, also known as Sin City. As the chopper made a turn, she viewed the vast landscape as an artist’s canvas. The awesome structures designed and built by nameless men. So many lives below. Where there is sin and sadness, one will also find love and happiness.

With a deep sigh, Steph continued to gaze at the site, wondering where she fit into the street party of existence. Not a single malicious bone in her body, yet a monster lurked inside, crying to be set free. And, despite the desire to have a special someone to share a lifetime of love and happiness, meaningless one-night stands never filled the emptiness inside. Lately, living and breathing her job had become her reason for lack of a social life. That, and always being looked at as one of the guys and a hard ass.

Some of the cops‟ wives had made it their mission to fix her up with someone. Despite their efforts to feminize her, she intimidated the men they’d found for her. Not considered butch—she had all the right curves in all the right places and could wear sexy clothing that normally only looked good on a model—but everyone knew how tough she could be.

Controlling the power hidden deep inside her proved to be difficult and had ruined many relationships. Her last boyfriend liked to try kinky things, but had his limits. She’d gone out with a guy who’d insisted she be submissive to him, but that felt completely false and ended shortly after it began.

What’s wrong with me?

Frustrated at her inability to escape her reputation, she’d applied with an online dating service, 1NightStand. Not a regular matchmaking site, but more upscale; the mysterious owner, Madame Evangeline, had an amazing ability to find just the right person to satisfy one’s needs. Or so Steph had been told.

Her cell phone vibrated. Glancing at the screen, she noticed an email from 1NightStand. Instinct told her Eve was probably letting her know the dating service could not match her up. To avoid disappointment until back on the ground, Steph put the phone back in its holster.

The chopper began its descent.

Reflection of an Eagle Spirit

The hero of Eagle Dance is a Native American eagle shifter.
Dyami has a spiritual guide within his soul
and has been blessed with the ability to change from man to animal at will.

The man often reflects strong attributes of the animal.

Native wisdom also honors the eagle for their opportunistic ways. It's not that they're skilled hunters (they are), but the go about gaining their needs in ways that are most efficient. This is a lesson for conserving resources. Work smarter, not harder.

The eagle reminds us to be victorious, brave and strong. We are do be these things with humility. Honor, respect and dignity are very important to those who have an eagle spirit.

Meditate for a moment.
Does the great spirit send you an eagle?

Dyami Schafer, a Native American from a Michigan Chippewa tribe, leads a lonely life due to his large size and unusual appearance. When his nesting instinct sets in, he turns to Madame Eve and her 1Night Stand dating service to help him find his spirit mate. Or at least a woman who accepts him as an eagle shifter.

Amanda Collins never stopped loving the Chippewa boy she knew from her childhood. Maybe a night with a Native American man will help her forget the past and let her move on with her life.

Sometimes, it’s necessary to take a step into the past before dancing into the future. With the help of Madame Eve, will the Spirit of the Eagle carry Dyami and Amanda?

Thursday 13 - Lines from Handcuffs & Silk

I was lucky enough to be one of the first authors to write in the 1 Night Stand series for Decadent Publishing. I've written several since but Handcuffs & Silk was my first. I had fun writing the story. A high school class mate of mine & hubby's was a Las Vegas Detective at the time I worked on the book. He loved being my go-to-guy with my "police stuff" questions. The book is dedicated to Keith and his lovely wife, Hilda.

Stephanie "Stiff" Johnson, is a tough Las Vegas cop who many men find too intimidating to date. Steph begins to wonder if something is wrong with her so she turns to Madame Eve to find a man who could be the yin to her yang, even if it's just for one night.

Hunter Morgan left behind years of living as a sub to a female Domme in New York. Upon return to his hometown, he questions whether he wants to continue with the "lifestyle" or find something different. Turning to 1 Night Stand, he hopes to sample his options.

A simple one-night stand opens a whole new sensuous world to both.

I've listed my personal favorite lines from Handcuffs & Silk

1. Being a Las Vegas cop, Steph recognized the evil lurking in the shadows of the beautiful city, also known as Sin City.

2. Rubbing the smooth part of his neck where a collar had rested for over a year, he remembered the day Ericka removed the soft, blue, leather strap with her initials stamped on it.

3. Miss Stephanie Johnson is a lovely lady with the type of personality I’m sure you will find to your liking, and perfectly capable of fulfilling your current desires.

4. “Grow up, Hunter. Drop this damn beta act and be the alpha you were born to be.”

5. Nicely curved hips accented by shiny, black leather hot pants, high-heeled, thigh-high boots laced up her long legs, and a small leather bag hung on a silver chain snug against her hip.

6. Her mouth watered at the sight of his muscular chest peeking from the opening of a black Armani shirt with the sleeves rolled past his elbows, and one hand rested on his thigh while the other held a rose.

7. Stepping tighter between her legs, he grasped Steph around her nape with one hand and pulled her to him for a hard kiss.

8. Sex appeal coupled with willingness to satisfy equaled a very appealing combination in a one-night stand.

9. The room filled with heat, yet the only sounds were their breathing, the creak of the bed, and the rasp of her boots as they brushed against his legs.

10. She opened the drawer and found a couple of black silk scarves.

11. With a wicked grin, she paused to pick up the glass with the key resting under the melting ice cubes.

12. I win.” His deep voice wrapped seductively around her entire body.

13. “You have the right to remain silent.” She clamped a handcuff roughly onto a wrist and raised both arms over his head to hook around the headboard rails then attached the remaining cuff to his free wrist. “Anything you say can and will be used against you for my pleasure.” (Yeah, I know it's more than one line, but it's my all time favorite in the entire book!)

I hope you enjoyed the little snippets.

Story Behind The Story - Crow Magic

Living in the woods, I have several feeding stations for the wildlife. Families of critters often become regulars. I've had the privalige of watching a family of crows. They are very intelligent and when they watch me, I often wonder if there is more than what I see and my imagine takes over....

One day, I sat on my porch with a cup of tea watching the critters. A crow flew up to me and morphed into a drop-dead sexy man with obsidian eyes, long black hair and tanned skin covering delicious muscles asked me to tell his story. I couldn’t refuse. A story filled with spirituality, sexual awakening and love. A story of a man falling into darkness and finding a woman who surrounds him with light.

The intelligent gaze, silken feathers and the mystical legends of crows led my imagination to create the hero in Crow Magic. Tecumseh "Seth" Crowe, is a Shawnee shaman who guides people out of the spiritual darkness of their lives, but at a cost on his own stability. He is naturally charming but from his demanding “work”, his family fears he’s on a path of becoming bad-tempered and destructive. His mother and brother convince him to use Madame Eve and her 1 Night Stand service to find a special woman before it's too late and he's lost into the darkness forever.

Crow Magic, 1st book in the Legend of the Spirit Series

The belief is that the two are meant to be mated: a legend that toes nicely with the story and with the sociology of actual crows, and the path to this awakening for Lucy and claiming the mate for Tecumseh is both spiritual and sexual: both with their own levels of beauty and intrigue that is carefully described and defined. - Gaele, Book Reviewer, Editor, Author

#SneakPeakSunday - Taming Rachel

Imagine you went to the same college as your brother and he held a strict bro code of not ever letting his friends near his sister. Imagine if one of them broke that code then broke your heart. Imagine seeing him ten years later at a class reunion.

Ten years had passed since their college graduation. Tired of the typical class reunion socializing, Rachel stepped into the shadows to sip her wine. To most people, being in a room containing several ex-lovers could be a bit of a downer, but enough time had passed and everyone greeted each other like old friends. The evening consisted of meeting spouses, seeing photos of children, and hearing about various occupational paths. Of course, gossip of divorces topped the conversations.

Some were using the opportunity to network for their careers. The school district she worked for had made some drastic cuts, leaving her jobless. All her belongings were in storage, and she lived out of a suitcase while job hunting. Surely there had to be districts looking for an innovative art teacher. A couple of classmates who held positions as principals offered their business cards with the promise to accept her resume.

A loud shout drew her attention. Members of the championship football team were honored guests at her class reunion. Gazing across one of the finest rooms in the Vegas Castillo Hotel, she watched her twin brother, Bill, ham it up with old friends. He wore a permanent smile as he laughed with his long-lost, but not forgotten, teammates. She suspected after being blessed with fatherhood and a job as a corporate lawyer, he didn’t see much of his college buddies. With animated gestures, they were talking about the season of fame. One fellow gently tossed the championship football with the players’ signatures to a couple of guys. What a rough and burly bunch they still were.

She loved her brother but often wondered if she’d made a mistake going to the same college as him. During their four years, she enjoyed the popularity that went along with being the star quarterback’s sister. She’d tolerated the overbearing nature of her twin who criticized her choice of men, even if she dated one of his close friends. Any man he pushed her toward never seemed to satisfy her and became one more in a string of onenight stands.

Lucky for her, he stayed out of her love life after his wedding. Most of the men she knew had married and settled into neat, scheduled lives. So much had changed over time; once lean, vigorous bodies had given in to the softness of sedimentary lifestyles revolving around their budding families.

One man managed to still have his muscular physique and remain as hot as ever; Dustin “Dusty” Stiles, the legendary linebacker who’d led the team in tackles. Back in the day, the girls on campus considered him the epitome of tall, dark, and hunky. From the stares he received as he walked past them, they still deemed him so. He wore his black tie loosened around the open collar of the white dress shirt tapering down to his narrow waist. Black pants covered the world’s perfect butt and thighs. Polished Durango boots with silver tips reflected his cowboy side.

Rachel had managed to dodge him all night. She’d evaded everything regarding him for years. After college, she left Michigan and her family to move to a small town in New York. She didn’t see much of her brother and always avoided discussing news of his friends, especially after what happened with Dusty after Bill’s wedding.

However, any thoughts of him usually accompanied a self-induced orgasm. No other man she’d dated could compare to him. He pushed her to sexual heights not reached since. She loved what he did to her and hated how he used her. Memories of how she gave in to him time and time again still generated pain in her heart. She missed his friendship, his dominant qualities, and his magical touch. He haunted her.

Time had passed. According to the talk of the night, he’d moved to Wyoming for work as an engineer on the wind turbines but ended up making a fortune when oil was discovered on the property he bought. They were different people now, but what if they still had that volatile magnetism between them?

Sensual Saturday - Shower Scene from Eagle Dance

In today’s hectic life with busy schedules, it’s hard to find time for each other. Grab the moments when you can. Add a little romance to your life by taking a sensual shower with your honey. (I suggest finding a shower gel or soap you both enjoy and saving it for such an occasion.)

Please enjoy this shower scene from Eagle Dance.

“Damn!” His jaw dropped. She stood gloriously naked, water dripping from her hair into her face. Blonde strands plastered the skin of her shoulders above high breasts. The areolas were like large cherries begging to be plucked, and he had every intention of exploring each inch of her toned belly to the neatly trimmed fair hair at the junction of her thighs. He wanted her long, lean legs wrapped around his waist while she rode him into tomorrow. Blood drained from his brain and rushed to his cock again, and the need to taste and touch her everywhere forced his feet to move.

“Holy shit.” Her eyes grew wide as she gawked at his naked body. Stepping back, she let him slide under the water.

“Is something wrong?” Pleased with his effect on her, he smirked and placed his hands on his hips.

“I wondered what you looked like under all those clothes, but didn’t expect perfection. Wowza.”

He kept his body in peak physical form and secretly coveted her admiration. Moving her soapy hands over his body, she used the slipperiness to her advantage, setting him on fire. He reached out to pull her close for a kiss, but she moved back to skim over his shoulders, massage his neck then up and down his arms. She splayed her long fingers on his chest and across his abs and ribcage.

Even in the military, he’d never been so thoroughly inspected. His beauty knelt and massaged his thighs and calves. She soaped along his hips then cupped his balls and palmed his hard cock. Intense bliss suffused all parts of his body, especially the one in her grasp. Glancing down, he admired the scattering of freckles over her creamy skin. He almost fell out of the tub at the sight of the smooth curve of her backside. Amanda must have noticed her effect on him because she giggled softly. Continuing to stroke and pet him while she rose, she licked water off his belly and chest.

“You are too good to be real. You can’t be human.”With tiny kisses, she sucked droplets off his chin.

“I am.” Tempted to say more, he only chuckled. “Mostly.”

“I could have wild monkey sex with you all night.” she whispered against his lips and continued to stroke his cock.

Ikwe, that can be arranged, but I’d like to slow things down.” Closing his eyes, he focused on her touch.

Whew!!! That was hawt!!! I need a cold shower!
