Romance Away Winter Blues

The beauty of winter and the long nights may offer many opportunities for romance but it also affects several of us by placing a grey cloud over us. For the single person, loneliness and fatigue may set in; for couples, the romance may become stagnant. It's time to turn the season around, make your own fun, add some romance into your life. Instead of avoiding the cold, call up some friends and get outside. Act like a bunch of teenagers again. Go skiing, sledding, ice skating, or simply have a snowball fight. After an outdoor adventure, cuddle up with a cup or cocoa (add a shot of Peppermint Schnapps) and watch a movie.

On a sunny weekend afternoon if the weather is too cold for your taste, check out an audio book and hop in the car for a scenic drive.

For a bit of fun after a busy day, pull that special someone into the kitchen and heat things up. Pick out a recipe together and spend the evening preparing dinner. When the meal is ready, enjoy it next to a warm fire or by candlelight. Spread a blanket on the floor and have a picnic.

Another way to spend an week day evening is playing a board game. If Monopoly isn't your thing and you want to steam things up a bit, pick up a fun sex board game from your local adult store.
Give each other the ultimate bath and spa experience with a little basket filled with spa items from your local Bath & Body Works or order online. Don't let the romance stop after the bath. Give each other a light, lotion-laden massage.

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Tips for a Romantic Bath

  1. Rose Petals
  2. One of the most common symbols for romance, the rose is not only a beautiful addition to your bath water and/or bath area it is delightfully fragrant as well.
  3. Bubble Bath
Bubble bath comes in so many varieties it can be hard to choose the right one. If you know your partner has a special favorite, use that one. If not, try something a little creative like bubble bath in a champagne bottle.
  4. Mood Music
Initiate a romantic environment with a little calm and relaxing mood music. Many stores offer nature or mood themed music. Pick out a CD that will help you create the exact mood you desire.
  5. Candlelight
Restore that healthy glow with a liberal sprinkling of candlelight. Tea lights are easy to use, make little mess and are easy to throw away once cooled. Don't place candles where you may splash water on them.

Fitness Friday - Private Spa

Top athletes will submit to a post work out soak in a tub filled with cold water.

During strenuous 2-A-Days my football players will add ice to the tub!  Brrrrrrr….not my thing!

A friend told me about a different kind of soak that works on aching muscles from a work out as well as a good detox.  Basically, a spa treatment in your own bathroom.

Draw a bath, as hot as you can stand.
Add 1-2 cup of Epsom salts, 5-10 drops of lavender or peppermint oil, and just before you get into the water add a 1-2 cups of baking soda. Have a bottle of water handy to drink from. A 20 minute soak is great for muscles!

I did this and felt like I could run a mile after. She explained the Epsom salts contain magnesium that is absorbed into your body to ease pain and inflammation. The salt and heat of the water draw out toxins while the baking soda neutralizes said toxins so they won’t return to your body.  As for the scented oil… that’s a bit of aroma therapy to relax your mind and soul.

If you have a cold, flu or some sort of but try a complete detox.  Add 1 tsp -1/3 cup of ground ginger or ginger tea. Try mixing lavender with some eucalyptus essential oil and add some drops to the bath. Be sure to have a drink handy.  Soak for up to 40 minutes.

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Tips for a Romantic Bath

I LOVE baths!
I bet you can't guess what inspired today's post.  LOL

Taking a bath together in winter is as sexy as skinny-dipping.
It's also a great idea for a "cheap date night".
  1. Rose Petals
One of the most common symbols for romance, the rose is not only a beautiful addition to your bath water and/or bath area it is delightfully fragrant as well.
  2. Bubble Bath

Go shopping together and pick out a few fun bath products in a scent you both love
  6.  Skin Care Take care of each others' skin and try new exfoliation products or other skin improving products. Pay special attention to each other's elbows, knees, hands and feet. Make your own product with sugar and lick it off.
7.                    7.  Hair Care  The scalp is an erogenous zone. Give each other a complete hair washing, including combing out their hair during the conditioning process.
8.    8.  Champagne
Celebrate your time together with a romantic toast. Use this couple time to renew promises or vows with each other. Or, just revel in actually having couple time.
  1. Try a fun, sensual bath game. I'm not going into detail here. *wink, wink*
  2. Warm, Fluffy Towels
Put your towels in the dryer for a few minutes for a warm and toasty after-bath treat.
Take turns drying each other off for a more intimate experience.
  3. Mood Inviting Bath Soak

Wet & Wild Wednesday

The days are shorter and the nights are getting colder. Make time to pamper yourself with a bath.

Warm up on a chilly night in an extravagant array of bubbles. If you're a single person, treat yourself to a bit of romance in the tub.  If you're not one for bubbles, try a bath soak.  Bath soaks are usually a blend of ingredients you add to your bath water to create a desired effect, such as a sore muscle soak, stress-easing soak or relaxation soak. Most bath and body and drug stores carry bath soak products. Pour yourself a glass of wine, light some candles, grab a steamy romance novel to read or your favorite BOB.  (wink, wink)

For couples, a languishing dip in a steamy tub for two is enough to inspire romance for even the stodgiest of lovers. If you're worried about interruptions, arrange your water play encounter at a time when you can be together alone. A great way to do this and create the perfect memorable night is staying at hotel with a spa or Jacuzzi tub in your room.  Give each other the ultimate bath and spa experience with a little basket filled with spa items from you local bath and body shop.  Don't let the romance stop after the bath. Give each other a light, lotion-laden massage.

ENJOY!

Sensual Saturday

Nothing is more sensual and relaxing than spending a lazy Saturday in the tub with your honey. Let's take a peak and see how Lynn and Erick are faring at a Bed & Breakfast in Wales.

Part of her felt Erick was just using her, another part didn’t care. She
craved his touch; it burned her, as well. He kissed her eyelids, her cheeks, her lips
with such sensuality she didn’t realize he could be so tender. Within a few
moments they were naked. Erick took her hand and led her to the tub.

“We’re not going to both fit in there!”

“It’s very deep; you may be surprised,” his voice murmured.

For a moment, she wondered if he had bathed in such a tub before. She
watched as he stepped in and sank into the depths of the steaming water. His head disappeared under the water, then he sat up, running his fingers through his wet
bangs. Helping her in, he turned her so her back was against him. Instantly she
felt his hardness against her. He moved her legs around his.

“Lean against my chest,” he directed her as he unpinned her tangled hair and
shook it loose.

She found a large sea foam sponge, lathered it and washed his arms and legs.
He took the sponge from her grasp and washed her. He rinsed it then squeezed the
water onto her skin.

“Put your head back.”

She did and felt him squeeze water from the sponge to wet her hair down.
Her eyes closed as he ran his fingers through her hair. He kissed her neck and
sucked the water droplets off her skin as he moved her position.

“Now relax.”
