JM Madden Gave Me A Book Hangover

I LOVE JM Madden
She's the queen of Military Romance.

Hot heroes and amazing stories.

BUT...
I'm mad at her right now.

Last night I thought I'd read a couple chapters to relax in bed before lights out. I figured, I'd pick a book I've read before so I wouldn't "get sucked in" to the story and not be able to put it down.

So I opened my Kindle to the Lost and Found story Embattled SEAL.

When Harper Preston finds himself flat in a hospital bed after a botched op, he’s okay with dealing with the fallout. If he dies, he’s lived well past his expiration date. The only people that will notice his passing are the guys he works with at Lost and Found Investigative Service.

Then his estranged wife arrives.

Cat Preston is thankful and horrified when she’s called to her husband’s side. He’s been shot. Again. But now that she’s found him she’s going to make the most of the opportunity. If it were up to Harper, she would be out of his life completely because he thinks it's the best thing for the family.

With a little SEAL abduction (for his own good of course) maybe she can convince him otherwise...

The book is AWESOME!!!!

I didn't stop reading until 3am!
I didn't even take a potty break!

Now I'm suffering a major Book Hangover AGAIN!
My eyes are all buggy and my brain is fried with need to read more!

Please, PLEASE... pick up this book...
I got mine on Amazon.
Pick up all of the books in the Lost and Found series for that matter.

When you sit down to read, make sure you have a snack and a bottle of water handy.
Use the bathroom before opening the cover.
Put a friend or loved one on guard duty, a bomb could go off and you wouldn't know.

I GUARENTEE you won't be able to put it down once you start.

Check out the books on Goodreads

Thanks for another sleepless night JM Madden.
It was worth it.

Tasty Tuesday - Hot New Military Romance Release

Look at what I just bought

Hot Alpha SEALs Mega-set

All of the material is BRAND-NEW!

Here's the blurb and excerpt from Unbreakable SEAL!

Maxwell Tate fights against a psychotic dream world, his sense of reality warped until he no longer knows what’s real and what’s not. Lacey Adams knows she can’t save all of her cases, but Max appeals to her more than any other. Can she salvage the Unbreakable SEAL?

Knowing from experience that if she reached out to touch him she risked her life, she stopped a few feet away. “Sir, I need you to look at me. Whatever it is you think is attacking you isn’t there. I promise you. Can you look at me?”
It only took a moment for him to look at her, but it seemed ever so much longer as she watched him strike himself over and over again. Obviously he felt it was the only way to rid himself of whatever he thought was after him. She continued to speak to him in the calm voice she’d used on many frantic patients until his movements began to slow.
“Hey, buddy, I know you can fight it off. Can you look at me?”
His dark head lifted and fierce, brilliant, yellow-gold eyes latched onto hers. Lacey felt like she’d just landed on a lunch order. She smiled at him as reassuringly as she could, then dared to step forward. She reached out a hand but he jerked away.
“No,” he snapped, deep voice taut with strain. “They’ll get you.”
Lacey pressed forward, hand outstretched. “There’s nothing there, I promise you.”
She rested her hand on his quivering arm and ran it down his skin to clasp his broad wrist. His frantic gaze followed her movement, then he turned to her and looked her arm up and down. Blinking, he shook his head, then held his own arms out in front of himself. When he lifted his eyes to her, she knew the hallucination was gone.
She tried to put all the reassurance she could into the smile she directed at his dazed expression.
“What did you see?” she asked.
“Spiders,” he gritted out. “Stabbing at my skin as they crawled up my body.”
Holding his arms out again, he skimmed his palms down their length, as if brushing away the experience.
Lacey realized as she stood there that his eyes still seemed a little dazed. Was that normal?
She held out her hand. “Lacey Adams.”
The man straightened and clasped her hand. “Maxwell Tate. Thank you.”
Lacey gasped as he tugged her into his hard arms, then allowed herself to be bear hugged. She expected to be released quickly, but instead he held on, as if he needed the contact. The man smelled incredibly good, as if he’d just rolled in laundry softener. Relaxing, she allowed him to take what comfort he needed from her. She’d actually been hugged many times like this, as if she were the last lifeline in the world. She looped her arms around his waist and rubbed his back. He would let her go when he was able.
When she felt his nose nuzzle into her loose hair, sudden shivers danced down her spine and the tenor of the hold changed. She became aware of how solid his arms felt around her. Muscular pecs rested just above her breasts and he was curled over her to accommodate his size. Heavy thighs pressed directly against hers.
When he eased back, she thought he was releasing her, but instead he shifted his strong hands to cup her jaw. Before she could breathe out a question or protest, his head lowered and his mouth settled against hers.
Lacey’s normally level-headed brain short circuited as his soft, full lips began to move over hers. The stubbly hair around his mouth tickled, but arousal surged through her body and she opened her mouth when his tongue glided over the seal of her lips. Damn. It had been an embarrassingly long time since she’d been kissed like this. Against her better judgment, she leaned into him, tilting her head.
The man groaned at her compliance and one of his arms wrapped around her arched back, clutching her tight. He shifted forward until their hips were more tightly aligned and she could feel exactly how much he was enjoying their kiss.
Then he jerked away.
Lacey blinked, shocked at the sudden loss. Her heart was thudding with anticipation, then suddenly bereft. She looked up and the guy was looking at her as if he didn’t know who she was. Well, he didn’t, actually, but he’d instigated the kiss. Why was he looking at her as if she’d been the one to grab him?
He frowned down at her for several long seconds before his eyes cleared. “I’m sorry, do I know you?”
Surprise had her mouth falling open inelegantly. She cleared her throat. “Uh, no, not really.” But as she looked at him, that sense of familiarity nagged at her again. “I’m an RN with Dr. Petrovic’s office. Maybe I’ve seen you there?”
The man squinted. “Can’t remember right this second.”
Lacey eased back, straightening her purple t-shirt. “I thought you might need some help.”
His eyes hardened and a shift settled over his body. Though he didn’t move, tension saturated the air. “I’m fine now.” His cold gaze drifted over her lips, then skimmed down her body. “Thank you for the help.”
Lacey Adams seldom was at a loss for words, but as she watched the scrumptious man walk away, it was all she could do not to breathe fire. Of all the rude insinuations she’d ever been slammed with, that had to top the list as the most reprehensible. And she had a huge list. Hell, she’d worked at Walter Reed for years, caring for some of the most wounded warriors to come home. Some of the things she’d seen and heard would peel the paint off a car. She’d had one guy whose answer to everything was ‘fuck you’, but she’d even gotten along with him eventually. Still talked to him occasionally. And she’d done it because she’d genuinely loved doing her job. In spite of the hurtful things the men said, for the most part they needed the help and care.
And that’s what she needed to remember. He didn’t seem to know what he was doing. If he were in his right mind, he never would have said something so hurtful. She hoped, anyway.

I got mine!

Tuesday Teaser - Letters to a War Zone by Lucy Felthouse

Lucy Felthouse is often my connection to the outside world. She shares my books and then introduces me to new books and authors to distract me from my writing.  LOL But that's something we all need. So now I'm going to distract my readers with on of Lucy's books they need to pick up. Please check out this new m/m military erotic romance.

Blurb:
When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next…

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to insert some variety, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge their secrets, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.
Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

*****

Excerpt:
After clicking all the available links on the website to find out more about it, Bailey decided to go ahead and sign up. He’d never know what it was really like unless he gave it a go.

He’d read about the site in an article somewhere, about how it linked people with serving soldiers, pilots, marines and sailors in order to write to them. It had been proven that receiving mail—even from someone they didn’t know—improved military morale. It sounded like a damn good use of time to Bailey, and it would be interesting, too.

He began typing his details into the online form. Of course, the chances were that he’d be paired up with a man, given the ratio of males to females in the forces. It didn’t matter, though. He could still exchange letters with a guy, become friends. It seemed like such an old-school way to communicate with someone, given how technology had come on over the years, but at least it was different. Perhaps it would give him something in his life to look forward to, something other than getting up, showering, going to work, coming home, eating, watching television and going to bed. The watching television—and even the eating—were occasionally replaced by nights out with friends or seeing family. Weekends were spent cleaning, washing clothes, gardening and odd jobs. Dull stuff, in other words.

He had an utterly mundane life, and Bailey knew it. It wasn’t even as if his job was exciting. Insurance broking was hardly thrilling, game-changing, or going to save the world. He didn’t expect having a pen pal to change his entire life, but it would certainly break the monotony. Hopefully.

He went through the various steps to fill in his details and create a profile, then continued right through to the information on actually writing and sending the letters. It looked straightforward enough.

His mind made up, Bailey immediately went in search of a pen, some nice paper and an envelope. Armed with a print out of exactly what to do when the letter was finished, he settled down at the kitchen table. Instantly, his mind went blank. What the fuck was he meant to say? He didn’t know any soldiers or other military personnel, didn’t know anything about their lives, other than there was a great deal more to it than shooting people and being shot at. His own existence was so fucking boring that he didn’t want to write about it. Unless there were any insomniacs in Afghanistan—telling them about his day would solve that particular condition right away.

After chewing on his biro until it broke, covering his lips and chin with ink, Bailey replaced it, resolving to try harder. He’d tell his pen pal the bare essentials about himself, then ask lots of questions about them and their work. That was bound to rustle up some conversation.

That decided, he began to write, absentmindedly swiping at his inky skin with a tissue. He’d have to scrub it off when he was done with the note. His wrist and hand had begun to ache before he was halfway down the page. He rolled his eyes. He sat on his arse at a desk all day, using a computer. As a result, even writing something short by hand was hard work! There was no way he was going to divulge that particular piece of information to someone that was willing to lay down their life to protect their country.

He just about managed to fill a single side of the A5-sized paper. And that was only because he’d formed large letters and spaced his words and lines out plenty. But he tried not to worry—at least he’d finished it, his first letter to a war zone.

He read through it carefully, relieved to find no mistakes. He’d forgotten how much more difficult—and messy—errors were on the written page. Computers let you edit and rewrite to your heart’s content. No correction fluid or crossings-out necessary.

Finally, he addressed the envelope. It felt like the longest address ever. The area and country was bad enough, even without including the soldier’s name and BFPO address. But it was done—Bailey Hodgkiss had penned a missive to Corporal Nick Rock, currently stationed at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Now he’d just have to post it and wait for a reply. The website had said his missive would take between one and three weeks to reach Corporal Rock. Then he had to allow for time for him to read it and send a reply. It could be around six weeks before he heard anything. If he heard anything at all.

New Military romance - No Flag by Liz Borino

I will quickly admit I am a sucker for military romance.  I found this new release that looks pretty good.  I haven't read anything from Liz Borino so I'm looking forward to curling up with this story over the rainy weekend.

For Mike and Will, “No Flag” meant “come home alive”, but will their love survive what happens next? Captain Mike Kelley does not ignore his intuition, so when sexy bartender Will Hayes captures his heart, Mike embarks on a mission to win him over to a Domestic Discipline relationship.  Will accepts with one caveat: Mike must promise not to renew his Army contract.  Mike agrees, and they spend a year building a life together, getting married, and starting a business.

Only days before their café’s grand opening, Mike receives news that threatens everything he and Will have built.  The Army invokes the Stop Loss military policy to involuntarily extend his commission and send him back overseas.  Will, left alone to cope with the café, must rely on the support of old friends who may be no longer be trustworthy.  Through emails and Skype calls, Mike and Will keep their love and structure alive…until the day a horrific terrorist attack occurs on Mike’s outpost.

Mike awakens in a hospital with a devastating injury and no his memory of the attack. As the only survivor, Mike’s memory may be the key to national security. Mike struggles to cope with his injury and Will struggles to support the man who always held him up.  Both fear they have lost their previous relationship.  Will has Mike back rather than a folded flag, but in the aftermath of war, can they rebuild the life they had before?  Especially when those closest to them may not have their best interests at heart?

Tuesday Teaser - Rebel Souls by DL Jackson

I'm happy to tease you today with some samples from a good friend of mine. DL Jackson, the author of one of my favorite books, Cinderella Wore Combat Boots. This is the first of three Tuesday Teasers I'm seducing you with.
ENJOY!
Rebel Souls ~

Blurb:
Ava has lived her entire life fighting for freedom against an oppressive government. When she falls for a man who stands on the opposite side of the line she’s drawn, all she’s worked for may vanish, including her future with a Regulator who she has no business loving.

Excerpt:
Seth slammed his hand into the gel pad, releasing the lock to the hanger that housed Ava’s ship. The steel blast door slid open and Ava whipped around, her back to an engine compartment where she’d been working. A smudge of something black streaked across one cheek, and her hair hung loose around her shoulders. She wore a red thermal shirt, tan canvas pants, and black boots that stopped just above her knees, looking every bit the smuggler he’d fantasized about for days.
“What are you doing here, Captain Reynolds?”
There wasn’t a good answer for it. Plain and simple, he needed her, wanted her, and he’d be damned if he held back now. He strode up to her, grabbed her wrist, and tugged her into his arms.
Her fingers laced into his hair, and she tipped her face up to look him in the eyes. “You didn’t answer my question.”
“Are you alone?”
“Yes, my crew is on leave.” Her gaze traveled to the hanger doors. “You shouldn’t be here.”
He watched the way her lips formed the words but heard little of what she said. Need pounded through him and only one thing would relieve it. Gods, he wanted her. “No.” No, he shouldn’t be. No, he shouldn’t kiss her. No, he wasn’t thinking about duty tonight. He dipped his head and captured her mouth the way he’d wanted to for the last three weeks, backing her against the forward drive. He tore at her shirt and the buckle on her aviator’s pants, desperate to touch her bare flesh, be inside her. His hands grabbed her bottom, and he lifted her from her feet and pressed her against the side of her ship. She wrapped her legs around his waist. With a gasp, her mouth opened to him. He thrust his tongue in and savored her flavor, needing more, starved for her.
Ava was everything opposite to the law he upheld, all he stood against, but it didn’t have to be that way. It wasn’t too late. He ran his hands up her shirt, cupping the bare breasts underneath. The pads of his thumbs grazed her nipples, and she arched into him, growling low in her throat.

He pulled his mouth away. “I need you now.”

“Take me inside the Avira.” Heat blazed through her eyes. “Or take me here. I don’t care, as long as you take me.”
